Leon G. Castro

Patent Agent

Leon G. Castro is a patent agent with Suiter Swantz IP. Leon obtained a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln (UNL).  During his time at UNL, he performed research involving the fabrication of porous silica and porous alumina.  Leon gained first hand experience with spectroscopic ellipsometry to characterize materials, study organic material adsorption rates and investigate material biocompatibility.  Through his studies and research activities Leon gained a broad technical background in the areas of electronics, integrated circuit fabrication, spectroscopy, optics, materials, and biointeractions.

Prior to joining Suiter Swantz, Leon was employed in the technology transfer office of a major university where he worked to commercialize university research.  His efforts included fostering university-industry relations, determining the commercial potential of university developed innovations, and licensing university owned patent rights.  Leon advanced university technologies by partnering with Fortune 500 companies that could sponsor research and commercialize university inventions.

Outside the office Leon enjoys various sports and volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America.  Leon is also an avid singer and has participated in several acappella groups.

Leon is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
